The Applecross Inn

Cheeses come in from the West Highland Dairy. Chef Robbie MacRae is a local boy come home after being head chef for Marco Pierre White, and then at the Royal Oak, another Michelin restaurant down south.

Guest are blown away by the selection of fine malt whiskey – and by publican Judy Fish’s talent for matching the malt to her guests. Sample micro-brewed ales, the local venison, the seafood from Applecross Bay itself, prawns, squat lobster, crab and lobster, local scallops, oysters, Mussels and Smoked Salmon.  Also sample Applecross Estate Venison and as much garden produce as possible, (veg, fruit, and herbs…)

Judy Fish, a people-person to her core, is a great inspiration and friend to Eagle Rock and a devoted community leader. Many customers become friends, who return year after year. The unfailingly welcoming staff at Applecross Inn has served unpretentious, outstanding food for 25 years. Judy’s sister Carolyn, and several nieces and nephews, give the pub a unique family feel

In the winter, sit at the crackling open fire, play pool and enjoy the chilled vibe. In the summer, savour fresh local seafood and game in the sea view garden

The Walled Garden

John and Elaine Glover  – and Jackie and Peter in the garden – restored this old Victorian Walled Garden to its former glory. They grow all the greens and veg they serve, and their all-day breakfasts are amazing! Try to catch one of their tasting menu nights. The Walled Garden has become very popular as a wedding and party venue. Jon has a marriage licence  – you could not hope for a nicer wedding officiant! Jon and Elaine go to great lengths to make their guests happy and the staff is always smiling and helpful.

The Walled Garden also serves a selection of delicious home baked cakes, scones, brownies, and a wide selection of teas and coffees.

Applecross Inn-Side Out

The Applecross Inn-Side Out, a 1950s-style Airstream trailer reflecting the sea, the sand and the sky of Applecross Bay, does a roaring trade serving fresh-ground coffee, the famous Applecross Inn beer-battered fish and chips, and home-made ice cream from Applecross Ices.

Ice cream chef Aron Paramor trained at Moro for seven years and spent time at Gelupo, in London’s Soho, working with his ice-cream mentor Jacob Kenedy before setting up Applecross Ices. The flavours change constantly, but favourites include Toscaig Blackcurrant, Raspberry Ripple, Scottish Strawberry, Golden Syrup, Old-Fashioned Treacle, Biscuit, Key Lime Pie, Lemon Curd Ripple, Italian Cherry, Rhubarb Crumble…

His lovely wife Sarah often ably assists him

Call the Browns well in advance on 01520 744 421 to order your newspapers in advance, or any special food or alcohol you’d like. Remember to ask for their own organic eggs, locally made (delicious) creamy yoghurt, cheeses and locally smoked salmon, as well as wood, coal and basic supplies

The Browns also supply camping gas, wood, and hardware supplies

Caty MacLennans Lusan Salads and Herbs

Caty can provide organically grown salad from Easter – October from the MacLennan family croft in Toscaig, Applecross. The MacLennans hand pick their salad and sell mixed leaf bags for £1 to £2.

He is happy to take orders in advance, or come to Eagle Rock by arrangement. If you don’t want to be tied down to a delivery time, you can catch Alfie in the village – just ask at the pub where he is likely to be
